Your tour begins with a scenic drive through the historical town of Falmouth. A knowledgeable and fun driver/tour guide will ensure your total Jamaican experience. Hear interesting facts about the transformation of the port that was once used for sugar exports to this newly constructed cruise ship pier. Stop at Water Square the first place in the western hemisphere to have running water (even before the city of New York) .
View the 18th century architecture and capture the moment on camera. Speak with the towns people and get in touch with Jamaican culture. Falmouth is known as one of the best preserved Georgian towns in the Caribbean. The town was founded by Thomas Reid in 1769 with wide streets laid out in a grid with water supply and public buildings. Falmouth port was the main shipping port for the flourishing sugar industry at the time and became a flourishing market center in Jamaica. Explore the impressive 19th-century Georgian architecture, the buildings are still intact and are renowned for their unique gingerbread woodwork.
Make a stop at one of the oldest church on the island – Built in 1795, the Falmouth Parish Church (also known as St. Peter’s Anglican) is the oldest public building in the town and the oldest church in Jamaica. The land for the church was donated by Edward Barrett, part of whose estate had been bought to lay out the town. Graves spanning over two hundred years can be found in the churchyard.
See the high school where the legendary Usain Bold attended and where he started his magnificent sprint career.
Option to cool off and spend some time on the beautiful Burwood Beach. The facility boasts sanitary conveniences, a kids play area as well as showers.
